• What is the typical yield of polyester films?

  • What is the standard packaging for polyester film?
    • SMP’s standard packaging of polyester films is on 6” paperboard cores (extended) that are then attached to wooden pallets and loaded onto trucks for delivery. We also supply non-standard packaging of 3”, flush and special cores as needed for an additional cost. If you need film samples please contact us, and we can send the appropriate type and technical information.

  • I am ready to place my first order. What do you need from me to get started?
    • We will need you to fill out and submit a credit application (Click Here for Application) and a W-9 form for tax exemption. After we have processed the application, we will contact you with details on payment terms, delivery options and other information as needed.
    • SMP has credit insurance. Payment terms and a credit line for your order will be transmitted to you within a couple of days after approval.

  • How can I get a sample of film for my project?
    • Please contact us by email or phone, and we will be happy to send some samples to you. Our sheet samples are provided in Letter or A4 size. We will need to know the application you are intending to use the film for, any special characteristics the film should have (e.g. anti-static, slip treated) and your shipping address with contact information.

  • How do I get technical information about the film I am interested in?
    • We have printable data sheets listed on our website, and you can find them by clicking on the Products & Details page of this website and then clicking on the Data Sheet button located near the top of the page.

  • Do you sell and ship less than truck load quantities of films?  What is the MOQ (minimum order quantity?)
    • Yes. We are willing to supply LTL and custom width films. However, there might be MOQ requirements for certain products. SMP is very skilled at producing your orders with other orders of the same product so that the MOQ may not apply to you depending on the situation. Please contact us with your requirements, and we will be happy to provide exactly what you need.

  • Can you provide really small orders like one small roll?
    • Yes we can. This ability is the strength of our company. We are able to support single roll orders at a competitive price with great service. We have a very broad inventory network, so we are often able to secure hard to find inventory for your needs. If we cannot find the inventory, then we will do our best to produce the film you need with other orders already on the schedule with our partners. Quick response is our motto.

  • What types of quality assurance can you provide?
    • SMP does not sell products that are only branded as SMP, but we sell all products that are co-branded with SMP and the original manufacturer. Therefore you will have the same quality assurance and technical service help available from the original manufacturer as well as SMP. Additionally, all certificates like ISO, FDA, UL, RoHS, REACH, etc. can be provided b the original manufacturers in a timely manner.

  • What kinds of products other than rolls can you sell?
    • SMP can supply sheets, micro-slitted (narrow widths like 1″) rolls.  We supply resin sacks as well.

  • What is Mylar®?
    • Mylar® is often used to generically refer to polyester film. Mylar® is a registered trademark owned by DuPont Tejjin Films for a specific family of products made from the resin Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET).  The true generic term for this material is polyester film.  SKC has the broadest product range of polyester films.

  • Where do you supply films?
    • SMP is located in the U.S., but we are a global supplier with many partners over the world as shown below. We have supported customers in the U.S. and Canada, plus customers in China, Japan, Germany and many other countries.
